Linkedskills is recruiting a Design Manager on behalf of an established metal fabrication specialist delivering projects across the construction sector.
You will lead a team of four Tekla technicians, coordinate design delivery and work closely with clients, engineers and site teams to turn project requirements into accurate, practical drawings.
Applications are welcome from experienced managers and skilled Tekla professionals who can demonstrate the ability to lead, organise and support a team. You do not need to hold a management title already.
The opportunity: This role combines technical design, people leadership and site involvement. You will oversee drawings from submission through fabrication and installation, helping the team deliver accurate work within demanding project deadlines. The business works across secondary steelwork and architectural metalwork, with fabrication, finishing and installation capabilities. Quality, clear communication and accountability are central to its approach.
What you will do

Lead and support four Tekla technicians, coordinating workloads and monitoring progress against project deadlines.

Oversee the preparation of detailed submission, fabrication and site drawings.

Review designs for accuracy, coordination, clashes and compliance with relevant standards.

Work closely with the management team to plan design activities around project and fabrication requirements.

Liaise with clients, engineers, project managers and site teams to clarify requirements and resolve technical queries.

Carry out site surveys and ensure measurements and findings are accurately reflected in drawings and project registers.

Maintain clear records of design changes, project updates and outstanding actions.

Promote consistent quality, proactive communication and continuous improvement within the design team.
What you will bring

Practical experience using Tekla Structures - essential.

Experience within the construction sector - essential.

An understanding of fabrication drawings and how design decisions affect manufacture and installation.

Demonstrable leadership ability, gained through managing people, coordinating work, mentoring colleagues or taking responsibility for project delivery.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Confident communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with clients and colleagues.

A full, clean Irish driving licence.
Experience using Tekla within a metal fabrication environment would be a strong advantage.
What is on offer

€55,000 - €60,000 annual salary, depending on experience.

Full use of a company van and company phone.

Monday to Friday hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

20 days’ annual leave, plus the company’s Christmas closure of approximately one and a half weeks.

Annual performance and salary reviews each November.
