The Opportunity
Linkedskills is recruiting an experienced QC Registered Industrial Electrician with CompEx training or certification for a permanent position with a leading Irish civil engineering and infrastructure contractor.
The immediate workload is concentrated across the southern half of Ireland, particularly Kerry, West Cork and the wider Munster region. However, the successful candidate must be willing to support projects nationwide when required.
This is a technically responsible position working across water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, industrial utilities and hazardous-area electrical installations.
The Role
You will inspect, test and verify industrial electrical installations to ensure compliance with applicable technical, safety and quality standards.
Projects may include:
- Water and wastewater treatment facilities
- Pumping stations and process plants
- Industrial utility installations
- MCC panels and motor-control systems
- Power, instrumentation and control cabling
- Hazardous-area and ATEX installations
- PLC, SCADA and industrial automation systems
Key Responsibilities
- Complete electrical inspection, testing and certification.
- Inspect MCC panels, control panels and industrial electrical installations.
- Verify power, control and instrumentation cabling.
- Complete earthing, bonding, continuity and insulation-resistance checks.
- Confirm electrical isolations and safe systems of work.
- Inspect hazardous-area installations for compliance with ATEX and CompEx requirements.
- Identify electrical defects, non-conformances and required remedial works.
- Maintain accurate inspection, testing and technical reports.
- Review electrical drawings, schematics and project documentation.
- Liaise with electrical, engineering, commissioning, site and operational teams.
- Support quality assurance and project handover activities.
- Work safely within live industrial and process environments.
- Travel to regional and nationwide projects as required.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Current QC registration and QC number.
- A recognised electrical qualification and full electrician status.
- Current CompEx certification or evidence of successfully completing an approved CompEx course.
- Candidates who have completed CompEx but require a refresher or renewal must provide details of their previous certification and completion date.
- Practical industrial electrical experience.
- Experience working with MCC panels, control systems and industrial installations.
- Experience working in hazardous-area or ATEX-controlled environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical inspection, testing and certification.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics and cable schedules.
- A full Irish driving licence.
- Current eligibility to work in Ireland without sponsorship.
- Willingness to travel across Southern Ireland and support nationwide projects when required.
- Flexibility regarding occasional overnight stays, depending on project location.
Applicants without CompEx certification or documented completion of a recognised CompEx course cannot be considered.
